Victim Dr R Geetha and her son R Siddharth were found lying unconscious inside the flat at Orchards Apartment on Arcot Road, when her father D Sivagurunathan (70) broke open the door, after she did not respond to repeated phone calls. They were rushed to the Vijaya Hospital, where she was working as a doctor for 13 years. The doctors found that Geetha had injected herself with drugs on her left arm and injection marks were found on Siddharth’s thigh. While Geetha was declared brought dead, Siddharth is undergoing treatment. The nature of the drug which Geetha used and the reason for taking the extreme step remains unclear. “She has not left any suicide note and her husband Raja Rajan, who was in Delhi on official duty, had just returned. We are yet to get his statement,” said R Gopal Guru, Virugambakkam inspector. Raja Rajan was working as a senior executive in a popular confectionary company. While Sivagurunathan, a retired headmaster, in his statement to the police said Geetha committed suicide, he did not offer any reason for it. Siddharth, a Class IX student in Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School at K K Nagar, is said to be out of danger, but yet to fully recover from the effect of the drug. “He was not able to speak properly, but he weeps continuously whenever he gains consciousness,” said a source. c m y k MEENAKSHI ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION & RESEARCH (Meenakshi University) (Declared as Deemed-to-be University Under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide Notification No.F.9-5/2002-U-3, Dt. 31.03.2004) POST GRADUATE ADMISSION NOTIFICATION – 2014 – 2015 Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the following courses conducted in the Constituent colleges of the University for the Academic year 2014 – 2015 c m y k MEENAKSHI MEDICAL COLLEGE & RESEARCH INSTITUTE, Enathur, Kanchipuram OFFERS MD Radio-Diagnosis, General Medicine, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Respiratory Medicine, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology, Community Medicine MS c m y k General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Anatomy ELIGIBILITY : MBBS Degree & Completion of internship on or before 31.03.2014 are eligible to apply for the Entrance Test MEENAKSHI AMMAL DENTAL COLLEGE, Maduravoyal OFFERS MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontology, Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, Prosthodontics & Crown & Bridge, Conservative Dentistry & Endodontic, Public Health Dentistry, Oral Pathology & Microbiology, Oral Medicine & Radiology ELIGIBILITY : BDS Degree and completion of internship on or before 31.03.2014 are eligible to apply for the Entrance Test MEENAKSHI COLLEGE OF NURSING, Mangadu OFFERS M.Sc.(N) Medical Surgical Nursing, Pediatric, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Psychiatric Nursing & Community Health Nursing ELIGIBILITY : 1 year work experience after completion of B.Sc (N) Degree are eligible to apply for the Entrance Test MEENAKSHI COLLEGE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY, OFFERS M.P.T.
