The deceased has been identified as 39-year-old Manikandan, a native of Kuyilpalayam in Villupuram. Police say Manikandan was has been an influential figure in Auroville, which lies close to his native village, and other parts of Puducherry and Kottakuppam for over a decade. He has around 8 cases of murder filed against him, apart from other cases such as land grabbing, kidnapping, theft and assault. Bob Lighthizer, who is right here, is negotiating with India Donald Trump, US President PRIME Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday told US President Donald Trump that India was not shying away from engaging Pakistan, but is still waiting for concrete steps to contain terror before the process could be resumed. He shared his concerns during summit talks in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session. “President Trump showed understanding. He also recognised and accepted that terror is a challenge that both of us face together,” Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale told the media after the two leaders held talks for nearly 45 minutes. In his opening remarks during a photo-op before the meeting, Trump carefully distanced himself from any mediation effort on Kashmir, saying it will be great if Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan can “work something out” to defuse the crisis. Doctors have confirmed that 25 of the 107 fever cases under treatment at ICH are dengue. Cases of dengue are also being reported from southern districts such as Nagercoil and Madurai. Doctors say Mahalakshmi was admitted on Sunday with fever. The child, however, did not respond to treatment and died on Monday The doctors . had sent her blood sample for test to The Kings Institute and the results, which arrived on Tuesday confirmed dengue. , Her brother had also tested positive for dengue but was completely cured and discharged. Director of Public Health, K Kolandaswamy told Express that from January, around 3,000 cases of dengue have been reported. “The situation is under control in the city , we have some issues in the bordering districts,” he said. The Mumbai-headquartered bank’s account holders can now withdraw only `1,000 per person and only once in the sixmonth period of restriction. Without divulging the reasons, RBI said it was necessary to “issue certain directions” in the interest of the public. Sources say the RBI action was based on detection of irregularities in loan disbursal and potential bad loan worries. Sources said RBI had “detected potential bad loans which could push up PMC’s nonperforming asset ratio way above what was declared in the annual report”. RBI may relax the withdrawal limit or the restrictions after taking stock of the liquidity situation, bad loans etc., they added. In a message to account holders, PMC Bank MD Joy Thomas said the bank has been put under regulatory restriction under Section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act for six months due to irregularities disclosed to RBI. The bank has 137 branches across Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. As of March-end, the bank had deposits to the tune of `11,617 crore and advances of P17 `8,383 crore.
