The source of infection of the Padiyur native, who was undergoing treatment at the Pariyaram Government Medical College, is not known yet. Sunil, admitted to a private hospital in Kannur with slight fever and respiratory problems on June 12, was shifted to the Pariyaram MCH two days later after his condition worsened. The results of his swab samples which came out on Tuesday showed he was positive. He was put on ventilator support after he contracted pneumonia. Sunil had taken an infected person — an accused in an abkari case — to the Kannur District Hospital and also visited the Thottada quarantine centre as part of his duty . After Sunil tested positive, the Mattannur excise office was shut down and 18 persons working there went into quarantine. The Health Department identified 25 persons as his primary contacts and isolated them. “We think Covid is the only reason for Sunil’s death as he didn’t have any other symptoms. Chances of com o r b i d i t y a re r u l e d o u t fo r now,” said DMO Dr K Naryana Naik. “The Health Department is trying to identify Sunil’s source of infection. Since he’s a driver and the district has already reported several positive cases, we have to dig deep to find it,” said Dr Naik. Called the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan, the scheme aims to give jobs to at least two-thirds of the migrant workers for asset creation spanning 12 ministries and departments. The works include construction of border roads, digging wells, building a gram panchayat bhavan and housing to create rural assets. Modi will launch the scheme through video conference in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi. Revenue Secretary A Jayathilak issued the order to acquire the land identified in the Erumeli South and Manimala villages. The Revenue Department issued the acquisition order after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan gave in-principle nod. After preparing a detailed project report, the state will now approach the Centre to get mandatory clearance from various ministries. Born in Kogungallur, he came into film world as part of the successful Sachy-Sethu screenwriter duo. He entered Mollywood after an eight-year stint as a lawyer at the Kerala High Court. Prithviraj-starrer Chocolate was the duo’s first hit. They went on to co-write several films like Robin Hood, Makeup 1972-2020 Man and Seniors. They parted ways after the failure of Doubles in 2011. Sachy went onto write four more screenplays for super hit films (Run Baby Run, Chettayis, Sherlok Toms and Ramaleela) before his directorial debut with Anarkali in 2015. Before the biggest hit of his career, he had written the script for Driving Licence. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled his death. The funeral will be held in Kochi on Friday .
