The mini-bus had just passed Veldurthi toll plaza, which was 4 km from the accident spot, before the mishap and the driver picked up speed of nearly 100 km within no time. The lorry driver alerted locals and police who rushed to the spot and started rescue operations. Using a crane, they retrieved the badly damaged mini-bus crashed into the lorry . Later, they extricated the bod- ies of 14 persons from the mangled mini-bus. The four injured were shifted to Kurnool Government General Hospital and their condition is stated to be critical. District Collector G Veerapandian and SP K Fakeerappa rushed to the spot and oversaw the rescue operations. “Preliminarily we suspect that drowsy , driving led to the mishap,” the Collector said. Expressing deep sorrow over the death of 14 people in the road mishap, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the government will extend a financial assistance of `2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and `1 lakh each to the injured. Disha (22) is accused of ‘editing, sharing and spreading’ the toolkit — a Google document that was shared by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg — on farmers protest. The Delhi Police had sought seven days custody of Disha, contending that they needed to probe a larger conspiracy against the government of India and ascertain her alleged links with “pro-Khalistani” movements.
