Anupama had made shocking allegations that her father and relatives forcibly gave away her newborn baby for adoption. The government pleader representing the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) informed the court that there were contentions regarding the adoption and an inquiry was going on in the matter following which the court ordered a temporary withholding of the adoption procedures. The court also directed the police to s u b mit the investigation report in a sealed envelope. The case will now be heard on November 1. Till then, the child will remain with the couple from Andhra Pradesh, where he is undergoing pre-adoption foster care. As per rules, the custody of children is given to their prospective adoptive parents until the court passes a final order sanctioning the adoption. The petition of Anupama, who had requested annulment of the adoption, would be considered after the court hears SARA as to what steps it has taken so far.
