Responding to a question on the party’s CM candidate during the launch of the Congress Youth Manifesto for UP she said: “Aapko kisi aur , ka chehra dikh raha hai Congress party ki taraf se? To phir? Dikh tho raha hai na sab jagah mera chehra.” (Can you see the face of any other Congress leader? It’s mine alone that is being seen everywhere in UP). That was a brave statement, considering the party is a marginal player in UP that is set to witness a straight fight between the BJP and the SP in most seats. She had refused to project herself as the CM face during the 2017 UP polls after which the party forced Sheila Dikshit to take up that role. As for entering the poll fray Priyanka parried, , saying: “When it is decided, you will get to know. We haven’t made a decision yet.” She, however, said her party would be open to a post-poll Opposition alliance in event of a fractured mandate. “If such circumstances arise and in the event that they do, we would be open to considering that,” she said. Explaining the party’s experiments in UP, former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said: “If you want to propose a new vision to India, you have to start at UP .” Netaji’s statue at India Gate, eternal flame shifted to Natl War Memorial Promises to.provide 20 lakh jobs A grand statue of iconic freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be installed at India Gate to commemorate his 125th birth anniversary Prime Minis, (Top) Air Marshal B R Krishna, Chief of Integrated ter Narendra Modi said on Defence Staff, merging the Amar Jawan Jyoti flame Friday . with the one at National War Memorial in New “This would be a symbol of Delhi; and (left) Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s India’s indebtedness to him,” statue will be installed at India Gate | PTI Modi tweeted. In a first ever study in the country and a much-needed breakthrough, scientists analysing genomes have found out how the virus evolves with new mutations within a host and new lineages are generated. The researchers from six prominent institutes, including Bhubaneswarbased Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), claimed the new mutated variants can be predicted through the analysis of intra-host single nucleotide variations (iSNVs) in the SARS-CoV-2 genome few months before their actual spread. They accessed samples of Covid-19 diagnosed patients sequenced during two different periods of the pandemic. In phase I, they analysed 1,347 samples collected by June 2020 from China, Germany, Malaysia, UK, US and different regions of India to perceive a genome-wide iSNV map in SARS-CoV-2 infected populations. They observed 16,410 iSNV sites spanning the viral genome, including residues that defined the B.1 and B.6 lineages that were prominent in the samples before June 2020. In phase II, analysis of another set of 1,774 genomes sequenced in India between November 2020 and May 2021 revealed that majority of the Delta (B.1.617.2) and Kappa (B.1.617.1) lineages appeared as iSNVs before getting fixed as variants of concern (VOCs) in the CONTINUED ON: P5 population. than life sculptures both in India and abroad and worked with black granite all through his career. The NGMA had earlier sent a six-ft-high model of Netaji’s sculpture to the Prime Minister who approved it. “Since Netaji was a very strong character, we thought of gran- ite as a medium to sculpt his statue because it is an extremely hard stone. Besides, we associate the energy of black colour with deities like Goddess Mahakali and Lord Krishna. Hence, jet black granite was a perfect choice for Netaji’s statue and we are happy that the Prime Minister liked it,” said the sculptor who created the National Police Memorial in New Delhi in 2018. The most important aspect of the project, he said, is finding the right stone. “We will bring the granite stone block from Khammam district in Telangana.
