Soren had skipped seven summonses before he agreed to be questioned. According to sources, eight ED officials came in with files and a list of 300 questions for the interrogation. Questions were mostly related to the land scam and sources of his income, they said. Later in the evening, additional files were brought in. The ED is investigating the Ranchi land scam on the basis of documents recovered from key accused Bhanu Pratap Prasad’s house. Several important documents relating to the scam were found in the raid from the house of Sub-Inspector Prasad of Badagain zone. Certain documents show the CM allegedly grabbing a parcel of tribal land in Ranchi. Amid apprehension that Soren could be arrested, many MLAs of the ruling alliance gathered at the chief minister’s house since morning to show their support. Likewise, hundreds of JMM workers gathered near his house with bow and arrow placards, party flags and banners. They were shouting slogans against the ED and the Centre. They warned that the ED should be prepared to face the consequences if it were to arrest Soren. Soon security was beefed up and prohibitory orders issued within a radius of 500 metres from the CM’s house till 11 pm. The AI-enabled cameras, which were switched on across the state last June, have detected a whopping 32 lakh traffic rule violations in less than six months. According to the data accessed from the motor vehicle department (MVD), a total of 32,88,657 challans were issued to motorists for violations caught on the 726 AI cameras installed across the state between June 5 and December 26, 2023. The data showed that an average 18,000 violations were detected by the cameras daily . Seat belt rule violation topped the list, with a staggering 18.22 lakh motorists penalised for the offence during the period. Of these, around 8.92 lakh were instances of co-passengers not wearing seat belts.
