For the ruling NDA, led by the BJP and JD(U), retaining power is about setting the tone for 2029 LS polls. While the grand alliance is yet to announce its seat-sharing formula, the polls are seen as a test of unity for the main players RJD and the Congress. The uneasy relationship between the two may deepen as Congress is looking to bargain for some ‘winnable seats’. The Congress contested 70 seats in 2020 but won only 19. The party is expected to contest 60–65 seats to accommodate alliance partners, said a leader. The RJD contested 144 seats and won 75, while the CPI(ML) contested 19 and won 12. The NDA hopes to win riding on ‘20 years of development’ and welfare programmes. Retaining Bihar is crucial for the ruling alliance because a defeat could weaken its march to the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. As for JDU chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, a victory would cement his legacy while a defeat could end his relevance. Meanwhile, the entrant Prashant Kishor’s party is expected to leave a dent on the Opposition vote banks especially the upper caste and the young. In a major boost to investments in Telangana, US pharma major Eli Lilly will invest $1 billion to set up a manufacturing and quality hub in the state. With this investment, the pharma company plans to expand its global medicine supply capacity . The announcement was made after the company’s global delegation met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu at the Integrated Command and Control Centre on Monday . The chief minister thanked the Eli Lilly delegation for choosing Telangana for its in- vestment and assured them of the government’s full support. Revanth attributed Hyderabad’s growth as a pharma hub to former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s initiative in establishing IDPL in Hyderabad in 1965. “Indira Gandhi’s initiative in 1965 is the reason why Hyderabad stands as a hub of bulk drug manufacturing. Hyderabad was also at the epicentre of Covid vaccine manufacturing on the global stage,” he said. The chief minister reiterated, “Telangana means business. Hyderabad is a global city . Our government will support and welcome all industries looking to invest here.” $ CONTINUED ON P5 `177 cr/Knowledge acre land aUCTION AT City sets new record|P3 Appalling bid to attack CJI, Modi calls it reprehensible I P7 Trust an expert who knows when to switch the tune Flexi Cap Fund^ for agility Scan to know more or contact your MFD/RIA Benefits of investing in Flexi Cap Fund 1 Flexibility to adjust Market Cap allocation 2 Managed by experts with experience across market cycles 3 Flexible approach helps mitigate risk over the long term ^An open ended dynamic equity scheme investing across large cap, mid cap & small cap stocks.
