Cross-LoC trade between J&K and PoK was started in 2008 as a confidence building measure by India and Pakistan. However, after the February 14, 2019 Pulwama suicide attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed and many others injured, India suspended the cross-LoC trade and cross-LoC bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, PoK’s capital. “The cross-LoC trade was essentially a barter trade where there was no exchange of currency from either side.
